Association
was
established
in
the
United
States
of
America
eight
(10)
years
ago
by
ex-
members
of
the
above
mentioned
departments
who
are
living
there.
It
is a
registered
“Friendly
Society
Organization”
Mission
Statement
APGI’S
mission
is
to
provide
critical
support
to
our
members
and,
or
their
dependants
with
focus
on
empowerment
as
we
strive
to
improve
our
communities
Theme
Our
theme
is,
“Bonding
the
past
with
present
for
the
future”
(a)
The
Association
in
the
U.S.A.
usually
assists
ex-members
in
Guyana
who
are
experiencing
difficult
times,
in
sickness,
death
of
an
ex-member
or
close
relatives.
(b)
We
in
Guyana
have
decided
to
assist
ourselves
by
forming
a
Guyana
chapter.
We
started
with
a
re-union
on
Saturday
29th
March
2008,
which
was
held
at
King’s
Plaza
Hotel,
Main
Street
Georgetown,
together
with
some
ex-members
from
the
APGI,
U.S.A.
organization.

have
since
elected
an
interim
management
committee;
our
constitution
has
been
drafted
and
is
in
the
hands
of
our
legal
advisor.

There
are

motion
was
moved
to
change
the
name
which
will
bring
about
a
better
meaning
and
upliftment
to
the
Association.

have
had
successful
fund
raising
activities
during
the
year
and
plans
are
in
place
for
the
year
2009.

Assistance
were
provided
to
four

less
fortunate
brothers
in
the
form
of
hampers
and
visits
to
their
homes.
We
also
prayed
for
them
to
recover
and
usually
check
on
their
conditions
periodically.
Our
intentions
are
to
increase
assistance
and
reach
out
to
other
ex-members
during
2009.

During
the
past
year,
assistance
was
given
to
relatives
of
deceased
ex-members
e.g.
wake,
food,
drinks,
purchasing
wreath
and
sympathy
cards.
All
available
members
usually
are
encouraged
to
attend
wakes,
funerals
and
to
sympathize
with
surviving
relatives.

There
was
an
official
launching
of
the
Association
Guyana
Chapter
on
April
the
11th
2009.
Members
of
the
overseas
organization
were
in
Guyana
for
that
occasion,
including
a
week
of
other
activities.
This
will
also
coincide
with
the
celebration
of
our
first
anniversary
celebration.

We
usually
have
monthly
meetings
every
last
Sunday
in
the
month
at
Girls
Guide
Pavilion,
Brickdam.
Time:

members

departments

are
eligible
to
become
registered
members
of
the
association
and
are
invited
to
attend
meetings.
The
registration
fee
is
one
thousand
dollars
$1000.00
and
our
monthly
subscription
is
five
hundred
dollars
$500.00
per
month
thereafter.

During
our
re-union
and
week
of
activities
in
Guyana,
hampers
with
food
stuff
from
APGI,
U.S.A
were
presented
to
nine

our

brothers
and
sister

the
various
departments.

Chair
was

presented

an
eighty-eight

year
man
Mr.
Liston
Prescott
whose
leg
was
amputated
after
being
attacked
by a
Stingray
in
the
Pomeroon
River
during
December
2008.

also
presented
to
an
ex-member
who
had
his
leg
amputated.

boxes
of
baby
foods
are
also
available
for
presentation
to
the
pediatric
ward
of
the
Georgetown
Hospital
through
the
Ministry
of
Health.
